As the year closes out, our Year Two Educator Prep students made classroom layouts using paper, felt, popsicle sticks, stickers, and much more to model what they want their future classrooms to look like. Each student selected a grade level and subject area, then designed a classroom environment that reflected their ideas. Take a look at how each student added their own personality into their classroom. They did an amazing job showcasing their creativity, organization, and passion for education.

We were excited to welcome Mrs. Pat Neal with the Mississippi State Extension Service to speak with our students through her “Gray for a Day” presentation! Our students had a wonderful opportunity to learn about caring for elderly individuals and better understand the challenges many face as they age.

Through hands-on activities and discussions, students explored how our senses, mobility, and daily abilities can change over time. We also made meaningful connections between caring for the elderly and caring for young children in Early Childhood Education, recognizing the importance of patience, compassion, communication, and understanding in both stages of life.

Thank you, Mrs. Neal, for such an informative and engaging presentation that gave our students valuable real-world insight and encouraged empathy for others! 💙👵👶

🐾 Pet Therapy Day Success! 🐾

We had a paws-itively amazing day in Health Science! 💙
A huge thank you to our former students, D. Vinson and S. Taylor, along with their mom, Samantha Collins, for coming back to visit Mrs. Shultice’s and Mrs. Sprouse's classes and bringing their adorable Frenchies for a special Pet Therapy Day! 🐶
Our students loved learning firsthand about the benefits of animal-assisted therapy and how it can improve patient comfort, reduce stress, and support overall well-being in healthcare settings. The smiles (and tail wags!) said it all! 😊
We are so proud to see our graduates giving back and helping inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Mrs. Yolanda Lee and the Educator Preparation II students, along with Mrs. Christy Burnett and the Early Childhood II students, recently had the opportunity to tour the Willie Price Lab School, the early learning facility at Ole Miss, as well as the Elementary Education and Early Childhood departments.

Our students gained valuable insight into high-quality early learning environments and explored future pathways in education. Experiences like these help bring classroom learning to life and inspire the next generation of educators! 🍎📚

Mrs. Sprouse & Mrs. Shultice’s Health Science students had the incredible opportunity to hear from guest speakers J. Faulkner, DON, and T. Jones, NP, from the Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility today! 👩‍⚕️🩺

Students gained real-world insight into medical careers within a correctional setting, including the types of diseases, disorders, and health issues commonly encountered, treatments provided, types of medications administered, and the unique situations healthcare staff may face. They also learned about career pathways—where experience is recommended (but not always required), how the facility operates, where inmates are received from, and even new technology like body scanners used on staff to help prevent contraband from entering the facility.

One especially interesting detail they shared was that the pictures lining one of the facility’s hallways were actually painted by inmates. As teachers and students, we truly thought they were stickers or machine-made—the talent and detail behind these are incredible! 🎨👏

To make the day even sweeter, they also brought thoughtful goody bags for our students and Health Science teachers—along with donuts that were definitely a hit! 🍩🎁

This was an eye-opening experience that gave students a deeper understanding of healthcare beyond traditional settings.

We are so thankful to Mr. Faulkner and Mrs. Jones for taking the time to invest in our students and share their knowledge! 🙌 ♥️
