As prom approaches, the safety of our students remains a top priority. Our School Resource Officers and local law enforcement spoke with students about making safe, responsible choices on this special night.
We are also sharing a powerful video created by Tiger TV, Shattered Dreams, which highlights the real-life consequences that can occur when safety is not taken seriously.
We encourage all students and families to take a moment to watch and reflect. Let’s work together to ensure prom night is a safe and memorable experience for everyone.

🚨 Guest Speaker Alert at SPHS! 🚨
On Monday, April 6, our Healthcare & Clinical Services students in Mrs. Shultice and Mrs. Sprouse’s classes had an incredible learning experience with C. Robertson, a retired law enforcement professional with 25 years of experience as a patrolman, patrol lieutenant, and patrol captain. His distinguished career also includes service as a hostage negotiator, SWAT team member, public relations officer, and SRO supervisor, as well as completing the FBI National Academy 221st Session. He currently serves as a middle school science teacher.
Mr. Robertson gave an eye-opening presentation on forensics, coroners, and medical examiners, covering topics such as:
🩺 The difference between a medical examiner and a coroner
⚖️ What a Legal Death Investigator and a thanatologist do
💀 Secrets of coroners and medical examiners, including how they work with both the dead and the living
⏱️ How experts estimate time of death using rigor, livor, and algor mortis
🪲 The fascinating role of forensic entomology in solving cases
⚠️ How medical examiners must navigate crime scenes safely
📺 Real-life MEs vs. TV portrayals
Students also explored the manners of death, stages of decomposition, and the tools and techniques used to uncover the truth behind mysterious deaths.

SPHS Healthcare & Clinical Services students had an exciting and engaging visit from Navy officer Toddriquez Jones, PO1, USN! ⚓
Mr. Jones spoke with Mrs. Shultice's and Mrs. Sprouse’s Healthcare and Clinical Services classes and Mr. Colbert's Sports Medicine class about the many medical careers available in the Navy, as well as the incredible benefits such as travel opportunities, health insurance, and retirement. He gave students a real-world look at what it’s like to serve in the medical field while seeing the world!
To kick things off, he got students involved with a fun (and competitive!) activity—pushups for the guys and planks for the girls, all timed. 💪 Students loved the challenge and energy he brought to the room!
He also shared unique pieces of art he collected during his travels, including a beautiful painting and a statue of the Greek god Poseidon from Souda Bay, Greece—giving students a glimpse into the cultures and experiences the Navy can offer.
Our students truly enjoyed this presentation and walked away with valuable insight into future career paths. Thank you, PO1 Jones, for inspiring the next generation! 🙌

SPHS Health Care & Clinical Services Students Explore Mental Health History! 🌟
On Friday March 27, 2026, our students had an incredible learning experience at MS State Hospital’s 350-acre campus! Guided by the gracious Mrs. D. Brown, they explored the Mental Health Museum and learned about the history of mental health care, including treatments like ECT, hydrotherapy, insulin coma therapy, and lobotomy.
The tour included the hospital’s historic buildings (most built 1926–1932) and modern facilities, such as in-patient treatment units, the new maximum-security forensic services unit, the medical-surgical hospital, and the nursing home. Students gained firsthand insight into how mental health care has evolved over time while seeing the blend of historic and contemporary structures on campus.
👏 A special thank you to Mrs. C. McKee for safely driving one of the mini vans and helping make this trip possible!
A big thank you to Mrs. D. Brown and the MS State Hospital team for an unforgettable educational experience! 🏥✨

Our Health Science and Clinical Services students had an incredible opportunity to visit Panola Pharmacy this week! 💊🏥
Co-owner Jenny Sullivant shared valuable insight into how the field of pharmacy has evolved over time—and how it continues to rapidly advance with new technology and patient care practices. Students learned about the many career pathways within pharmacy, from retail and hospital settings to specialized roles they may not have previously considered.
She also spoke candidly about important current issues impacting the profession, including the legal and political challenges facing independent pharmacies and the role of Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs). This real-world perspective helped students better understand the complexities of healthcare beyond the classroom.
Safety in pharmacy practice was emphasized, along with the key attributes needed to succeed in the field.
A huge THANK YOU to Jenny Sullivant and the entire Panola Pharmacy team for investing in our students and inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals! 🙌
We would also like to extend a special thank you to Brittney Barmer, our CTE secretary, for helping transport our students and making this experience possible. We appreciate your support! 🚐💙

🌱🌼 Growing Together at Tiger Care! 🌼🌱
This week, our Tiger Care students explored all things plants as part of our weekly theme—and what better way to learn than through hands-on experience!
Our Early Childhood students teamed up with Mr. Davenport’s Horticulture I classes for a special collaboration in the greenhouse. The high school students guided our Tiger Care children as they planted and learned about how plants grow, what they need to thrive, and how to care for them.
It was such a joy to see our students working together—learning, teaching, and building relationships across programs. These real-world, hands-on experiences are what make Tiger Care so special! 💚
We are so proud of our students for their teamwork and for helping our little learners “grow” in more ways than one! 🌿
