Our 2nd Year Advanced Manufacturing students recently had an incredible opportunity to tour Toyoda Gosei!
During the visit, students got a firsthand look at how injection molding machines are used to create plastic components for the Toyota Corolla. They also explored how electronic parts are assembled into steering wheels for both Toyota and Honda vehicles.
Experiences like this give our students real-world insight into advanced manufacturing and help prepare them for future careers. We’re proud of these students for taking advantage of hands-on learning opportunities!

Mrs. Shultice & Mrs. Sprouse’s Health Science students recently represented South Panola High School at the Mississippi HOSA State Leadership Conference in Hattiesburg, MS, March 3–6. Students (8) attending included L. Jaco, A. Houston, M. Braxton, L. Burkes, S. Hannaford, A. Leal, J. Edwards, and B. Reeves.
Five of these 8 students advanced to the 2nd round of competition!:
L. Jaco – Phlebotomy
A. Houston – Phlebotomy
L. Burkes – Medical Spelling
M. Braxton – Research Paper
J. Edwards – Physical Therapy
From these 8 students, we are proud to celebrate two outstanding accomplishments!
🏅 M. Braxton earned 2nd Place in Research Paper
🏅 L. Jaco earned 3rd Place in Phlebotomy
During the closing awards ceremony held in the Reed Green Coliseum, Braxton and Jaco were called to the floor stage to receive their medals in front of hundreds of HOSA members from across the state — an exciting and proud moment for our program!
Students also participated in several hands-on learning opportunities provided during the conference. At the Bobby Chain Technology Center, they learned about blood drawing, blood typing, and compatibility from Associate Teaching Professor/Program Director Sabrina Bryant, Ph.D., MLS (ASCP) of the Medical Laboratory Science Department and members/students of the USM MLS Club, including President MLS with Kay Den.
Additional interactive experiences included:
🩺 Practicing intubation on a mannequin
🫁 Trying on a high-frequency chest wall oscillation vest used to help patients with cystic fibrosis at the respiratory therapy booth — all with the help of the vendors at the HOSA event.
Our Health Science HOSA competitors had a wonderful experience participating in the many conference activities, thanks to Ms. J. Fogg, Mississippi HOSA-FHP State Advisor and the Mississippi HOSA leadership team. The students were also rewarded for their professionalism and maturity throughout the trip with desserts of their choice!

Foundations of Biology students wrapped up the term with a smelly lab. Making some very scent-sible observations, students investigated the diffusion of scent particles and discussed how balloons model the semi-permeability of the cell membrane by allowing the scent particles to travel through while keeping the liquid inside.

🎉 Congratulations to the 2026 Who’s Who at South Panola High School! 🐯

Good luck to the Boys Powerlifting team as they travel to Neshoba Central High School to compete in the North Half Championship. Lifting starts at 2:30pm. GO TIGERS🐅🐅

South Panola High School Healthcare & Clinical Services students had an incredible hands-on learning experience at Athletico Physical Therapy!
A huge thank you to Clinic Manager T. Maddox for providing such an engaging and eye-opening look into the world of physical and occupational therapy. Students explored real-world applications, including how AI is now assisting with patient charting, and got an up-close look at treatment techniques like E-Stim therapy and dry needling.
Two of our students even had the opportunity to experience the E-Stim machine firsthand—a treatment used for pain relief and muscle rehabilitation. They described the sensation as feeling like your foot does when it’s asleep!
One of the most impactful moments was hearing about a recent patient case involving tremors following recovery from a serious medical emergency—giving students a deeper understanding of both the challenges and rewards of rehabilitation care.
Experiences like this help bring classroom learning to life and inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals! 💙

Mrs. Shultice’s Health Science Year One students brought anatomy to life this week! 🧠✨
While learning about the urinary system, students got hands-on by creating clay models of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. From shaping each structure to labeling the parts, they combined creativity with real-world medical knowledge.
It’s always a great day when learning is this engaging (and a little messy)! These future healthcare professionals are building a strong foundation—one clay model at a time. 🩺💙

Friday was such a special day for our Early Childhood students! 💛
We had the opportunity to visit Dewberry Daycare, a wonderful childcare center in our community owned by Mrs. Haynie. Our students were able to gain valuable hands-on experience inside a real daycare setting, observing daily routines, interacting with children, and seeing firsthand what it takes to create a nurturing learning environment.
Experiences like this are so important as they prepare for future careers in Early Childhood Education. We are incredibly thankful to Mrs. Haynie and Mrs. Denise for welcoming us and investing in the next generation of educators!

We were honored to welcome Kaylee Williams, Healthcare Engineer at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery Veterans Affairs Medical Center, as a guest speaker for Mrs. Sprouse & Mrs. Shultice’s High School Healthcare and Clinical Services students on Monday, 2-16-26!
Kaylee shared her inspiring journey from being a proud SPHS high school health science student to earning her degree from Mississippi State University. She spoke about the college classes she completed, the fascinating concepts she learned in engineering and healthcare technology, and how those experiences prepared her for a career that looks very different from what most people picture when they think of healthcare.
Students learned that the healthcare field includes many important roles beyond physicians and nurses. As a Healthcare Engineer, Kaylee works behind the scenes to ensure that all medical equipment is safe, accurate, and functioning properly, while also making sure the entire healthcare facility—from ceilings and walls to floors—is up to date, well-maintained, and safe for patients and staff. — playing a critical role in patient care every single day.
Her message encouraged students to explore the many career pathways within healthcare and reminded them that what they learn in health science classes—especially medical terminology—along with their other high school experiences, can play a powerful role in shaping their future success.
A special thank you to Mrs. Krissi Williams for suggesting this outstanding guest speaker opportunity! We are grateful for community members who invest in our students and broaden their understanding of healthcare careers. 💙🏥
