Second graders in Ms. Paige's class read Who Sank the Boat? and did a fun STEM activity to go along with it! The kids worked in groups to build their own boats, and then added pennies to see how many each boat could hold before it sank. They had so much fun with it!

Team 3 — Frank, Laney, and Aylise — were our winners! Their boat held 50 pennies before it sank! Team 4 — Braxton, Jamyra, N’riyah, and Waylon — came in right behind them with 40 pennies!

It was a fun way for them to work together, make predictions, problem solve, and see how the way they designed their boat affected how much weight it could hold. They were so excited watching the pennies go in one by one and seeing whose boat would stay afloat the longest!
