SPHS rifle team places third in national competition
The South Panola Rifle Team Competed in the Gary Anderson National Invitational three-position rifle match on Saturday (Dec. 1).
Nationally ranked teams were invited to compete in the two-day competition held at Camp Perry, Ohio and Anniston, Alabama.
Fifty-one teams competed and South Panola placed third overall in the match with solid performances from all 12 team members. Based on cut scores from the match, Kayla Walker was awarded a gold medal; Nick Rudd, Raven Hudson, Jason Robertson, Thomas Harkins won silver medals; while Breana McGregor won a bronze medal.
The match is the first major national competition of the year, which continues into next year culminating with the Junior Olympics in June.
