SPSD announces Educational Opportunity Plan due to school closure through April 17
Due to the growing concerns surrounding the Coronavirus, and on an emergency declaration from Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves to close all schools through April 17, the South Panola School District will provide resources to our students, both online and through hard copies, so they have an opportunity to continue to have access to educational materials.
The materials provided are not required for student completion for a grade or promotion but serves as an opportunity for our students to continue the education process while our schools are closed.
The District will use a combination of methods for ALL grades to provide online opportunities in which our students are already familiar with during this transition period.
For Pre-k-8 students, the following online educational sites are recommended:
- IXL: Pre-kindergarten students only
- Google Classroom: 3-8 students only
- i-Ready Math and Reading: K-8 students only
- Accelerated Reader: 1-8 students only
For 9-12 students, the following online educational sites are recommended:
- Google Classroom
In conjunction with online opportunities, grade-level materials (HARD COPIES) will be available to all students who cannot access the information online. i-Ready Login Information:
SPSD already utilizes i-Ready in grades kindergarten through eighth and will continue during this time of school closure.
Students may log in to their i-Ready with an iPad or computer and complete lessons at their instructional level at https://login.i-ready.com/.
Students log in by using their MSIS number (lunch number). Students should know this number from memory as they have used it daily at school up to this point. The nine-digit code is used for the username and again for the password to login to i-Ready. It is recommended that students complete 45 minutes each week in reading and math.
Google Classroom Login Information:
To access Google Classroom, students will use the @spanola.net email address provided to all students in grades 3-12 at the beginning of the year.
If a student does not know their MSIS number (lunch number) or email information, please email email@example.com with the name and school of that student to obtain the information needed. Due to student privacy laws, there will be safeguards in place before issuing the information.
At the high school level for grades 9-12, students will use Google Classroom and Edgenuity. South Panola High School staff will provide login information to students being enrolled in Edgenuity.
A representative will be at each campus fielding calls from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each weekday.
Additional Educational Resources:
In addition, a list of educational websites by school and grade-level may be found here for our students.
With this being a fluid situation, changes to the South Panola School District’s educational opportunity learning plan could be modified. As new details are provided, the District will disseminate pertinent information to our students, parents and employees.
