Although the South Panola School District has not seen an increase in absences due to the influenza virus, we are aware of the number of those affected by the flu and with flu-like symptoms being on the rise in surrounding areas.
As a precaution, the South Panola School District is asking its students, parents, teachers, staff and administrators to take part in preventative measures to limit the potential number of cases on SPSD campuses.
All SPSD classrooms are being re-stocked with hand sanitizer and teachers are encouraged to disinfect their room throughout their day.
Other preventive measures include:
Covering your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and throwing away the tissue and washing hands.
Washing hands frequently with soap and water or alternatively, using an alcohol-based hand rub.
Keeping clean any surfaces or objects that may be contaminated with germs.
If you’re sick, limit contact with others as much as possible to prevent the spread of illness.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention encourages anyone who is able to get an annual flu shot, including students.
