The South Panola School District Board of Trustees approved the hiring of David Tutor as an additional Assistant Superintendent during its monthly board meeting on Tuesday (Jan. 15).
Tutor will oversee district academic accountability and workforce development. He will begin his new role July 1, 2019.
Currently, Tutor is the South Panola High School CTE Director and has been in that position since the 2017-18 school year. Before heading up the CTE department, Tutor served as SPSD Assistant Curriculum Coordinator in 2016-17.
With 29 years in the education field Tutor has served in a variety of different roles – teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent and director of special education during stints at Pontotoc City Schools, Chickasaw County School District and Nettleton School District.
A native of Pontotoc, Tutor graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor’s in education before obtaining his Master’s in educational leadership from the University of Mississippi.
He and his wife, Jennifer (a kindergarten teacher for 29 years), have been married for 29 years. The couple has two children, Brock, 24, and Bailey, 22, and a granddaughter, Ella Rae, who is 3.
