Degrees and Certifications:
As an Instructor for Early Childhood Education and Director for Tiger Care Preschool for the past fifteen years, I have extensive experience in the training and development of students to be caregivers of young children. I not only teach my students to become independent teachers of young children, but I also plan and coordinate the Tiger Care preschool activities.
I completed my Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from the University of Alabama. I am an active member of ACTE and the affiliate, MAFCSE. I served as President of the Mississippi Association of Family & Consumer Science Educators (MAFCSE) in 2009 and Treasurer from 2011 - 2015. I am also an active FCCLA advisor. FCCLA is our student organization and stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. I have served on the MS Executive Board five times in the past and am currently serving on this board.
I am a native of Wesson, MS and enjoy spending some of my leisure time in my hometown visiting family and friends. My husband, Steve, and I are active members at North Oxford Baptist Church where we both sing in the choir. Steve is also in education and teaches in the Oxford School District. We have one grown son, Douglas, that is married to a former student, Bethany.
