McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act

Title I Law: Sec. 1113.c.3

"A local education agency shall reserve such funds as are necessary under this part to provide services comparable to those provided to children in schools funded under this part to serve -

 homeless children who do not attend participating schools, including providing educationally related support services to children in shelters and other locations where children may live."

South Panola's Title I funds reserved under this law may be used to provide comparable services to students living in environments such as:

• Emergency or transitional shelters
• The street
• Motels, doubled up with friends or relatives due to the loss of housing
• Cars, parks, campgrounds, or public spaces not designed for housing
