About South Panola High School |
In the mid '60's, three schools in Panola County — Pope High School, Batesville High School, and Patton Lane High School — came together as South Panola High School. Current enrollment at South Panola High School is 1,210, with a staff of 115. SPHS is a comprehensive public high school offering over 120 Carnegie units and a vocational program that includes nine two-year courses: Allied Health, Child Care, Culinary Arts, Business and Computer Technology, Horticulture, Co-operative Education, Automotive Technology, Building Trades, and Metal Trades. The Air Force sponsors a four-year JROTC program that is in the top 10% of the nation's units. We have thirteen sports programs and accomplished band and choral programs. The school has five computer labs and wireless carts that allow any classroom to become a lab. The Student Council is made up of students in grades 9-12. They produce a five-minute morning video program and a fifteen-minute reflection of the week every Friday. There are four academic clubs, three Christian clubs, six honor societies, seven vocational clubs, and six service and hobby clubs for the student body. South Panola HIgh School is a place for everyone.
